DMS Calculator
We all know a degree is 60 minutes and each minute is 60
seconds but converting between fractional degrees and other representations of a
longitude or lattitude is a calculator job.
Just change any value and the other values will be updated instantly.
Convert WGS84 - UTM - RD
WGS84 is the preferred format of a GPS based location. Other formats are Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) and the coordinate system used in my home country, the Netherlands called Rijksdriehoeks (RD) coordinates. Also the Swiss Grid (CH1903) is supported.
Change any value and the other values will be updated instantly.
Switch between North and South, East and West by tapping the corresponding
buttons once.
To show a map with a pin on this location, just tap the pin button, it will
start the Maps app and drop a pin.
Press Read Location to use the internal location service (Wifi/cellular/gps) to determine the location. The precision is shown, stop the locator when accuracy is good enough.
Project new waypoint
Enter the location of the waypoint from where you want to start the projection.
Enter the distance (in meter or feet) and true North bearing from that waypoint. The projected
waypoint is instantly updated.
To show the calculated location on the map, just tap the pin button.
Distance and Bearing
Entering the location of two waypoints, the distances and bearings are updated.
Intersect 2 lines
Enter two waypoints and the bearings of the lines starting at these two waypoints. A new calculated waypoint will be displayed with the location where these two lines intersect. If there, it can be shown on the map using the pin button.
Intersect 2 circles
Here you enter two waypoints and the distance from each waypoint
(you can switch again between meter and feet).
Either there
is no intersection of these two circles on the globe, or there are two
intersections. You can view each of them on a map using the pin button.
